Wife and I stayed at the Kihei Beach Resort at the north end of town. We liked it because was convenient both to Kihei itself, but also a good jumping-off point to Wailea and Maalea...you don't have the longish drive through Kihei town itself. Also good parking...you pretty much need a car in Kihei both for general getting around and also to meet the dive boats at the Kihei Ramp or Maalea. One thing about meeting the boats...you'd be wise to scope out the boat ramp or the Maalea jetty in daylight before trying to arrive there in the predawn hours. It's DARK and their locations are less than very well marked [IMHO anyway...]. Even after a few meetups at the Kihei boat ramp, I still never found it quite where I expected.
