Hey all,

I ordered some reflective stickers with my initials from Dive Signs (www.divesigns.com) along with some of their SOLAS stickers for SMB's. I wanted to see where most of you label your doubles. I'm thinking that if I put the stickers on the outboard sides of the tanks between the two bands they might be covered by the wing when underwater. Is this a problem? I'm thinking that from an identification standpoint, having my teammates/buddies be able to see my initial stickers would be a good thing? If I put the stickers below the lower band they'd be more visible at all times, but might get scratched/damaged when I rack the tanks on boats. Your thoughts?

I put mine on the bottom. This is just for my backgas. For my stages, I obviously put them along the side. My initials still go on the bottom... Also, my buddies, if they are behind me can see them. If they are in front, they don't need to see them..

If I was stenciling my initials on I can see how the bottom would work, but I don't think a sticker will work on the rounded bottoms, plus it would get torn up pretty quickly.

To clarify- yes, I'm talking backgas only, not stages.

Can someone eloborate on the point of the reflective initials?

With the reflective material it shows up when hit by light in 'dark' diving conditions....both back gas cylinders and deco/stage cylinders and you benifit from being seen. Its also nice to help locate 'your' staged cylinder in 'dark' conditions. I buy mine at a local hardware store.

Fair enough. Personally, I think it a bit excessive. I been in DARK area's before and still didn't have a problem locating buddies. Also, I tend to find my stages on the line where I clipped them rather than looking. (and wouldn't dump them in OW)

To each their own. Safe Diving

Fair enough, and safe/fun diving to you!!! :D

Personally, the reflective feature isn't why I bought them but I can see how it might be useful in some rare instances. I liked that they're a nice clean solution that's customized and preprinted instead of using mailbox letters or trying to stencil etc. I also really liked the SOLAS labels for SMB's so I figured if I was going to place an order, might as well get some of these reflective stickers for tanks, scooter, etc.

Home Depot house numbering stickers 3" high, reflective background on left hand side of doubles sets. Why?

To ID my tanks in a set of similar tanks, for buddies to recognize me if diving in herds.... reflective... well. it just is reflective and at 50Ct per sticker... I am not complaining :D

BTW it is a cool sight when you return to your tanks and they 'shine' back at you....
