My wife's not going on this trip, so I thought I'd take her computer along to use as a backup. We both have wrist computers.

So, my question is, what do folks do with their backup computer? I've never noticed anyone diving with one computer on each wrist. I'm thinking I'll just stick her computer in a BCD pocket, but I'm a little concerned about losing it.

Suggestions?

If I'm carrying more than one timer I usually have them both on one arm. However, if I have seen lots of people with a backup computer on a chest d ring like Scared Silly described.

Primary computer on my right wrist along with my watch if I wear it. On left arm is my wrist slate, bottom timer (back up computer) and compass. When navigating I have everything I need in one plane and with one glance. And if my right arm is busy I still have all the info on the left I need. Pretty common to see divers wearing two comps. One on each arm.

In a pocket I would not only be concerned with loss but climing a boat ladder and wave hits could also slam it against that and damage it. If you can't readily see it why even carry it?

One on each wrist so I can always check my depth, even with one arm busy. We do the occasional blue (black, rather) water ascent at night, and with a dry suit and absolutely no points of reference within visual range you need access to a depth gauge at all times.

i've usually done one on each, but occasionally have done both on the left. do whatever makes sense to you. oh, i also have a bottom timer in my pocket most of the time.

One on each wrist - simple and easy and always ready to go......

you never know when one arm might become....unavailable....:)
