m5tsai,
June / July - very hot here for sure, mid 30's, and plenty of sunblock needed - typhoons, unpredictable but I think in summer 2010 I had to cancel only 2 weekend's dive plans because of the weather.
Normally that time of year I'll wear a 2mm shortie wetsuit, which to be honest is for protection from the occasional jellyfish and so on only, as you'll find the water will be prob 28 C or therabouts. Of course as anywhere, depending of which site you'll find sharp things and corals - so just make sure you get yourself a decent dive guide, especially with the young one with you.
Own gear, if you (or at least your daughter) are more comfortable with your own mask, regs & wetsuits - then I'd bring, but BCD/bootees/fins can be rented, but of course quality of them will depends with whom you dive.
Just come back from a weekend in Kenting, 4 boat dives, no current, no problem, will post a quick dive report and pics in this forum later.
Cheers
