My brother and his partner are traveling to KL and from there they want to go to either Tioman or Tenggol for about 10 days (around June 10 to June 20).

- My brother is AOW, fairly experienced, and would like to dive at some good dive sites
- His partner currently doesn't dive but wants to do DSD and maybe the OW course
- Apart from diving they are interested in nature, easy hikes, chilling on the beach, and staying away from crowds / noisy revelry! :D

Will the weather be ok for diving in June?
Which of the 2 islands would you recommend and why?
Which of the 2 islands has access to better dive sites?
Can you please recommend budget friendly or mid-budget accomodation, and safe/reputable dive shops on these 2 islands?

Thanks a lot! :)

The resort in Tenggol Island is expensive. You can use operator based in Dungun but the transfer is long and can be uncomfortable if the sea is rough.
Tioman is a big island and have several landing places for the ferry. Two entry ports from the mainland: Tanjung Gemok and Mersing. You can catch the bus from the huge TBS to either places. Give yourself plenty of time to catch the ferry and check the ferry schedule. Ferry from TG is not affected by the tide.

June is the diving season for both islands.

Thank you! Do you recommend any dive shops in Tioman? Which part of Tioman is a quiter to stay at? Any accomodation recommendations?

There are many resorts and dive operators all over the island.
Agoda or similar should provide up-date info on accommodation. As for the dive operator, it is better to contact them directly.

Tioman in general is quiet all around. Aman resort is nice and a bit fancier but still affordable. Friends who did their OW at B&J had quality training. No experience with the rest. Take Cataferry if possible, book in advance. Bluewater ferry in my opinion is unreliable and unsafe - ferry schedule is fake, overcrowded sometimes with people standing or sitting along the aisle like a refugee boat.
