why not ?
It's the end of October, there are unlikely to be any more warm days before spring, and I have a really hard time convincing myself to get in the water when I am already cold just getting to the beach. It's one thing to know that a wetauit will keep you warm, it's another thing to convince yourself to actually do it.

I know the problem is all in my head, but that doesn't make it less intimidating.

go go go if i go dive wednesday water temp will be around 57 F. i use s 7 mm with another 7 mm step in. i will be ok ! This will be the last dive of the season too.

Why the last one?
Weather gets too unpredictable. Normally have some largish storms by now.

The boat I mainly use will be moored up as the skipper gets away from smelly, whinging divers to go skiing and other holidays. Makes him happier for next year :)

There are other boats that go out all year round, so no reason to stop. Diving is a lot nicer in warmer weather with predictable seas and visibility.

Call me a wooss, but I’m just not that bothered nowadays with driving for two or three hours in the dark to meet a dive boat in the rain to kit up in the wet, do a cold dive in dubious water with mediocre visibility at best.

I aspire to do that easy warm water diving that you lot bang on about

Hmm, must look up Mexico flights…

A drysuit is your friend :-)

Although truth be told they’re sodding expensive along with a good undersuit that keeps you dry even if you’ve sprung a leak.

ahhh i dont do drysuit at one point is too cold here especially during winter months temperature goes way down under 0 and everything turn into ice 🧊

To gear up in such cold is not fun at all and it take too much logistics.

It's the best time of year when air temp goes below water (around 9c here). Then you aren't overheating getting setup.
Add in the much better vis and this is when the season really starts. I barely dive in the summer.

this was the last dive of the season. i stepped into the darkness around 6 am. Only one dive of about 30 min water and air temp was 57 F. I logged 40 solo dive this year i began diving on april 26th and finish today.

See you all next spring and be safe.

My wife and I recently returned from 2 weeks in Bonaire. One afternoon, she was feeling under the weather, so I did a solo dive on our house reef, Bari.

Very relaxing dive, no appreciable current, 60-80 feet visibility, water 85 degrees. Max depth 114 feet, average depth 48 feet, 95 minutes on 32%, end surface GF 49%, start pressure 3204 psi, end pressure 426 psi, RMV 0.31 cu ft/min. Graph shows depth, SAC, and GF99.

Tarpon, spotted and goldentail moray, green turtle, large school of boga, roving gang of tang, all the usual reef fish. Great dive :)
