Western (at least) NY mostly got skunked. We had 3-second glimpses through the clouds then went hard-overcast about 8 minutes before totality.

Benefit, didn't need the blackout shades ...


The relighting afterward was quite dramatic, even if we couldn't see the eclipse directly.

I did a combined "Birds in Flight/Eclipse Photo Session" at the Canadian Raptor Conservancy near Simcoe Ontario.

The warnings of traffic and weather worried me, but there was no traffic for us and the clouds were kind enough for us to watch it progress and complete including before & after diamond rings. My iPhone tried to photograph it, but there was enough haze to mess that up.
