well no, they got some, people have been finding these tanks here and there, just not in large quantities, which would hint at either a shortage or a production yield problem.

Before xmas i heard that the issues were resolved and they were ramping up production, low and behold, almost immediatley i've talked to some guys here in the bay area that have gotten theirs, and the e7 i have ordered is on it's way...which seems to be pointing at some truth in the steel shortage rumour, given happenings in other parts of the world

course, i'm not trying to kill your conspiracy theory here ;) , this is just what i've heard and think myself, i could be very wrong..

Here is the e-mail that I received from PST when I asked about the status of cylinders that I have had on order for a few months:

Toby,
We are not going out of business that I can assure you. We were affect by the steel shortage in receiving the specialty steel we need. We have received 2 shipments within the last month and have another shipment coming next week so we are now producing tanks, but we have a large backlog we need to get through our production which we are working on everyday.
We will be moving our facility starting in spring. Our new facility will help with our production flow and should improve service.
We thank-you for your patience, we should be shipping E8-119's the end of January so you should receive your shortly.
Sue

I saw an email similar to that about a year ago. I've seen several emails from company reps saying they aren't going out of business and tanks are on the way. Yeah, right.

Well Bert,

I guess your being skeptical is right on. I called PST this morning and they say that they have pushed off the shipment until MAYBE the end of February now.

I think that it is time to face reality that PST is in the business of deferal and I have been in the state of denial. I think I'll just check into the Worthingtons.

Now I'm starting to wonder about the guy that swears that he saw Big Foot with a brand new PST cylinder :11:

My tone in this thread has not been very positive and I didn't really mean to come across that way. I LOVE my E8-130 tanks and I'd like to get a third one.

I've just heard way too many excuses from PST. After 18 months I don't believe them any more. It's too bad they just don't come out and tell us what's going on. It's all rumors right now and that's not good for PST - especially some of the ones I've heard.

The XS Scuba HP cylinders (made by Worthington) compared to the PST HP cylinders they are copying have the same empty weights and seem to be a tad shorter, but are consistently a pound or more negatively bouyant for some reason.

"Available April 2005" somehow has a familiar ring to it...

There is another galvanized tank that just hit the market and cant remember the name of it right off hand. The introductory price is being offered over on thedecostop.com and it appears they are down at the moment with technical problems. The downside is they use the 7/8" valves instead of the more popular 3/4" valves. Their 103 is almost identical sizewise to the PST E7-100 but was like a pound more negative.

They still aren't hot-dip galvinized, which is the whole reason that people like the PSTs.

Which is a shame, but the PSTs aren't available so it doesn't really matter whether they are hot-dip galvinized or not. :(

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a couple PST 100s or 119s with H-valves, but from what I can tell it just ain't gonna happen.

The reason is -

Same weight but shorter means it is smaller. Smaller means it displaces less water for the same weight. Displacing less water means it is denser. Greater density means it is more negative.
