So we were talking about this the other day.... about when A tank visual expires. Folks had different opinions.

Let's say a tank was given a visual and sticker in May 2005. (sticker punched for May 2005 also).

Some of the people said it expired in May 2006, the others said it expired at the end of April 2006.

what do you see at your LDS to which "rule" they follow?

what's your opinion?

It expires at the end of the indicated month, like all other expirations I can think of.

Pete

What I have seen is that the sticker you are talking about would be valid for fills until the last day of May 2006.

My LDS always says that the vis expires on the last day of the 12th month. if it was inspected any day in May, then it need to be inspected the 1st day of May , the next year...it may be that you lose a few calander days, but the stickers do not allow for days, only months and yrs..See ya` under

Pete's right....end of month indicated.

So ... end of month idicated...

If I go by that and get it visualed on May 1st, 2005, then I get to use it until the end of May 2006. So that's 13 months total (you have two months of May).

The reason in our discussion that some folks said that it would expire at the end of April is that was the end of the 12 month/1year visual period.

The visual inspection will expire on the first day of the stamped month, May 1st.

The sticker gets stamped for the month and year the tank was inspected, say may 15th. The sticker will expire on the 1st of may the following year. This usually shortens your yearly visual by a few days, but it means there is less chance of going over a year on your visual.

The Hydro test does expire at the end of the stamped month, just FYI.

PSI/PCI says they are valid for 1 year from the date of listed on the sticker. I have yet to find a dive shop that will not honor them through the month punched on the inspection sticker. If they won't do that then I believe I'd find a different shop.

Down here we do the 12 month rule, they must be reinspected by the 1st of the month indicated on the sticker.

Here's what happens... Buddy and Pal come down for Mini-season in July, their tanks are out of VIP so the shop does the vis, new sticker, yay. Next year, the tanks are marked July and now we honor the end of the month. The tanks don't get used again until the next mini-season which actually puts the VIP interval at 24 months.

Every single person that needs a vis when they show up I tell to get it done at home before they come down next year, you know what I hear? "I had someone tell me that last year too!"
