Been two or three days since anyone has posted ANYTHING on our GLWC forum and I'm getting kind of TIRED of not hearing any 'chatter from the infield'. Even if the weather has been grey and cold, and winter is approaching doesn't mean that we have to put our gear away and quit dive talk! What's the matter with all of you out there, don't have anything to share?

I'll start. Current plans here at the ol' pumpkin farm is to dive Gilboa the first weekend in November with some of the local guys. Then, the second week in January we are headed down to Florida to follow business leads with a weekend in the Keys. I have already contacted 'The Dive Goddess' at Ocean Quest about a couple charters from Islamorada while there. To get ready, I just purchased (at a most excellent price) a one piece 3 mil suit and the cutiest little 3 mil beanie to wear diving in the warm southern waters. I look like a large (but sleek) black seal when fully kitted in my new suit! I would post photos, but am just too darn bashful!!!

So, who else has something to add? Plans? Comments?

Where'd ya get the deal on the 3mm? I need to start shopping for one as well. Got a trip to Hawai'i at the end of January. So far we're planning to go cheap and just shore dive the heck outta the place. And the local dive club is heading to the mine in Feb. Until then I'm sitting out and hitting the gym to get down to my fighting weight... (Hopefully before I purchase any new exposure protection)

Where's my club....! Opps - sorry - thats only baby seals... :)

I hope to be joining the pumpkin farmer and a few others at Gilboa on the 6th.

There's also a plan to celebrate someone's 25 year diving anniversary the first weekend in DEC at Gilboa as well.

Nov 19th to 21st is a dart tournament in Columbus...with any luck, I might drink some beer that weekend.

This upcoming weekend is my daughter's first opporunity to be drug outside and go trick or treating....ok....fine...so I'm the one that wants to go, she could care less.

I'll be down at Mermet this weekend working the kinks out of some new gear and improving my underwater pumpkin-carving skills.

My job is back in high gear with the annual year-end project push, combined with the "let's have this ready in time for 1st Quarter 2005" rush... so it's been long and busy work days for me.

But, little do they know, I've planned my escape and I'll be away diving in Cayman Brac from Christmas to New Years.

Hey I saw the question about the 3mm suit. Check out www.triple-l.biz for some great wetsuit prices. I don't have one (yet), but I'm getting a 7mm for local diving and a 3mm for Hawaii/Florida in the spring.

~$65 for full suits and ~30 for shorties

Again, I don't own one and don't work for them. Just FYI. There is some discussion of their suits on these boards, and folks seem to like em.

Well,
Don and I just got back from a 2 1/2 week vacation in Hilton Head south Carolina and then in the Florida Keys. We did some "braille " diving for megladon teeth in Beaufort, SC/ had dinner with SeaJay and RavenC one evening which was very pleasant. RavenC really does exist and is not a figment of SeaJay's imaginationafter all!
We did 6 2 tank dives in Key Largo and Marathon. Our dives were pretty shallow but nice. Don developed an abcessed tooth and could not dive but was able to snorkel,
It was pretty hard to come home to the cooler weather and colder water temps.\,
we left Don's scuba gear in Hilton Head since we did not plan to use it until we get back down there in January.
So I guess we will not be able to dive Gilboa in November. We have diner plans that evening, but if we have a chance, We will try to drive down and say HI!
Now that we have retired from our jobs, we are busy learning about our new life styles!
Hope to see you all soon

The club I belong to is diving the S.S. Milwaukee saturday and a local lake on sunday if the weather is not out of hand. If Lake Michigan is decent on friday, I just happen to have the day off and I'll launch the boat for a trip to one of the local wrecks. Just got a wide angle lense for my Nikonos and I'm itching to try it out.

Actually, I found it on eBay. I didn't actually find it, I contacted an eBay seller who had several 3mil full suits for sale, and asked him if he could get one in my size? He replied with a price and sent me a paypal invoice, I paid him and had the suit in a week. Its an 'akrona' brand suit and fits me great....
