All my dive gear works fine... although it would be nice to have a James Bond style pencil-sized rebreather that allowed me to dive to depths of 300 ft for several hours.

However, what I really need is an UW video housing which offers full control (via LANC) of all the functions on my HC-7 HD camcorder, is certified to 500 ft (just for a good safety margin), has built in HID lights, a good monitor, and comes in at under $100 retail. Alternately, someone could invent a generous human being who would completely fund all my educational ventures... and look beautiful in neoprene as well.

They don't have those yet.
But you could always put flags that say "stupid diver"
and attach them to a speargun shaft and go free spearing.

As for the tanks, I think they are out there,but very costly.
Most people consider them for overall size,as I believe they are
at or above 4500 psi operating pressure.
