The past few weeks has been pea soup with a little bit of muck sprinkled on top. Is it gonna get better before the fall?

Sorry to be a whiner, gang. I'm haven't completed my first full year of diving in Monterey so I dunno what to expect.

I did (or tried to) a dive at Monastery on sat-the worst I have ever seen it! Vis was abot 2-5ft with lots of crap and seaweed/kelp in the water column. We thought we might get under it but the deeper we went the worse it got!We thumbe dit after about 15 mins...
Headed over to monterey and could immediately see a difference? The vis at Lovers was a nice 20 to 30ft at least!lots of life-several nice lings a big halibut with a spear wound and lots of the regular suspects-very cool dive!
It was amazing how different it was such a short distance away..???

What a contrast when compared to the day we dove Monastery when Bob was here, right?

Who knew how truly special that day was.

Some of us had a clue ;) That's one of the reasons I mentioned Coral Street/Inner Chase Reef. Although the fish are lacking, the vis is usually at least 30 feet, sometimes MUCH better.

I've had sucky days at Monastery and I've had good days there. Not as consistent as Coral Street, IMHO (although it doesn't have the life either). Last weekend we were (boat) diving Carmel bay and couldn't find decent vis anywhere. I hit the bottom at 80 feet before I saw it, and boy, was it DARK. We ended up at Inner Chase Reef. Vis was 30 feet or so, from the top to the bottom. If nothing else, it's consistent.
