What size zip (cable) ties?

This seems like a very basic question, but I couldn't find an answer in any of the searches that I ran.

What size zip ties do you use for your scuba gear?

Miniature 18# ties?
Intermediate 40# ties?
Standard 50# ties?

I'm looking at this website and I don't know what size to order.

This might be a first, I'd go with the std. size but then I never really paid any attention to it!!! Until right now I didn't know there was a choice!! Maybe a few of each??? What do you use them for? Other than my reg. mouthpiece I'm not sure I use them for anything else????

The only thing I can think of is the reg mouthpiece and the bungee for the octo (if you use a bungeed octo).

Anyone use them for anything else?

Handy for when lanyards snap, someone steals a bolt snap, a clip breaks on a BC and many other things.

I know that you can break the 18lb miniture ones (that might be a useful thing, just in case, depending on what you use it for)
I would go for the intermediate 40lb ones

Don’t waste your time guessing here. Just go to your local hardware or auto parts store and “see” what you want.

There are a lot of sizes to get confused with. In my shop I have them from just a couple of inches to over 3’ long.

A couple of them have held my mask strap to my mask for the last 4 years.

They are the right size to put cylume lights onto yoke valves.

Edit: ooops. Obviously, the above are uses for a 3 INCH zip ties.

I have a few very long zip ties left over from an air condition project, used for things like attaching flex duct to rigid duct. Haven't found any scuba use for them yet, but I still leave a couple in my car.

We used get them from companies that work with wire and cable bundles. Handcuffs were an after thought but boy do they work good. I still don't think we have to buy them.

My cousin works for a telephone company and they use them. I even use them in my bike business. Lots and lots of uses.
