I just bought a MK25/G260 set and a 2nd G260 to make a set of singles for an upcoming trip. I am putting a bungee necklace on one of the G260s and I'm running into a zip tie I'm not used to.

It is a simple hook and bar arrangement that pops open with the tip of a flathead. However, it's not the big bulky reusable thing you can buy directly from SP. It's also not a standard (or even flat) zip tie.

I can put the necklace ends through the tie and close it to an intermediate position, but I can't squeeze it all the way shut as it came from the factory. It seems relatively secure (at least enough for recreational warm water dives).

Does anyone know what this thing is? Is it supposed to be reusable? is there a way to close it completely (as it came) with necklace ends in it?

It's not a big deal. I can use a standard zip tie, but if there's some way to make this thing work I'd love to know.

Yes, it's reusable, but because of the tight tolerances it's unlikely you'll secure a regulator necklace with it.

You could try this:

I have the same kit you have and use the SP second stage bungee kit/necklace and it works great.

That is the same "zip tie" that came on my newest ScubaPro's as well

I think the reusable "zip tie" comes on all new Scubapro seconds. As to the necklace, what I did was replace the the reusable with a zip tie. I used a second zip tie to hold the bungee.

I put a figure 8 knot on the ends of my bungees and managed to squeeze them under this reusable zip tie. It took some effort to get the tie to close but has been super solid. I pull it over my drysuit hood pretty roughly and it has stayed in place.

I secure my bungee with a separate zip tie. Leave the mouthpiece one in place. If it does get snagged and ripped off the necklace, you still have a mouthpiece.

Where do you secure it on the 2nd stage? Just past the mouthpiece?
