SCUBA demonstration to a 1st / 2nd grade class. & a slide show. For thanks I received some really great drawings of Christmas tree worms and fish!

I did something similar to that for our church's day care program. I put on my scuba gear and showed them how everything worked. They seemed generally fascinated. I think the teachers were just as interested as the kids were.

Works just as well on a dog.

Oh yeah - they love my gear... Good for scaring bunnies, too.

Although I don't know this to be a fact, I have heard a hang over is due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. Supposedly sucking on a reg of nitrox (higher concentrations ie 38%) will help you get over it quicker. Swat flys with your fins too!

Heard of the nitrox for hangovers, but never thought about using the fins to swat flys.

Don't know how cool it is, but I love to gear up and clean the tiles around the edge of the pool. I also tried to find a leak in a neighbors pool once.

Dive lights work as emergency flashlights when they're the closest when the power goes out.

A dive flag driven into your grass makes a good chipping target.

An air gun attachment for your tank works great for drying stuff and for air brushing leaves off the driveway. Warning - do not crank your valve way open for this. ;)

A customer called our company to disconnect an old refrigeration system. I sent one of my technicians up to the job which was in the customer’s basement. My technician couldn’t find a nameplate on this old relic refrigeration machine. He “assumed” that the refrigerant in the system was R-12 (commonly know as ‘freon’). R-12 is relatively harmless.

Well he was wrong. He cracked the line and methyl chloride started to leak into this guy’s basement. This refrigerant hasn’t been used in years. We didn’t have any safety data on it. Its smell was really repulsive. But we did know that we had to get this out of this guy basement but fast.

My home was near by so I ran and got my scuba gear. My technician was an old Navy diver so that was one good thing. I gave him my secondary and mask and I took the auxiliary and held my nose with one hand. This enabled us to carry the unit outside where the rest of the gas dissipated.

I logged it. Location: Old Bennington, Bottom time: 5 minutes. Depth: 7’6” :10:

 A spear gun would come in handy for those with lazy teenagers.

Scared the crap out of my cat. :05:

Would you give us the full story?

ScubaBoard does not endorse the use of spear guns on
people, even if they are lazy teenagers. Cats, dogs,
sea mammals, and residents of Idaho are fair game, however.
