My Dive Instructor swears by em and we used them in class. They are solid and many companies buy them and put thier names on them.
They are Cost effective and simple. He has over 30 years of dives under his belt and is very respected in the industry so I have to trust his judgement. I purchased and IST R10 for under $200 and its a Ballanced reg.
JoeDiverAmerica has them.
As for local servicing, thats a good point. I would make sure you can get them serviced where you are at.
BTW, I am a newby to SCUBA so take my advice with a grain of sand or two
