Sydney_Diver,

Were is it written that UWATEC is the best? ;)

My vote is for Suunto. They are conservative and the display is EASY to read.

I use a air integrated Genesis on a cable clipped to my B.C., there is also a compass on the mount.

So I'm getting the feeling that noone is using the RDP anymore after they get certified. Am I right on this?

If so, how soon after you started diving did you purchase a computer?

I use both....but record what the computer has to say....I feel its a good idea to keep sharp with the tables.
If you use Nitrox/take the course you'll be glad you did....More tables and calculations and….Not all computers are nitrox ready....

Oh yeah Cobra AI with a compass

I use one for a coaster so I don't leave a wet ring on the mahogany end table by my reading lamp. I find it works better than the older version based on the Navy tables since it is wider.

For diving I have a Suunto Stinger... it lives in gauge mode and can work as a count up timer as well as bottom timer and depth gauge.

...I don't use a computer as a computer... I have a fairly nice one that I only use as a depth gauge/bottom timer.... it is too small to use as a coaster.

For recreational dives I use profiling and the 120 mnemonic.

For deco dives I use PC generated tables based on air but we don't use air.

Dive computers rot your brain. :out:

You could get along nicely with the RDP, a bottom timer and a depth gauge. No computer needed. And your non-computer can even be nitrox capable.

Since we always dive EAN32 for our recreational dives I can reduce my profile by 20%... or not... thus adding in either more time or more safety margin.

You could do the same with Nitrox tables.
