Remember how some kids were instantly cool when they showed up to the new school year wearing the latest shoes?

Don’t fight it.

Get yourself a folding cart.

This thread has suddenly become more important to us.

My wife has some mobility issues resulting from (now removed) tumors in her cervical spine. We just got back from a week each on Bonaire and Curaçao and she is not able to wear nor carry her own gear over the shore to/from the water. Sometimes she can do it, but it leaves her exhausted at the start of the dive which isn't a good thing.

The result is that I first carry her gear, get her outfitted in the water, walk back to get my gear, walk back to the water again, and finally we can start our dive.

The end of the dive is the inverse: Walk out with my stuff, come back lightweight, de-kit her in the water, walk it and her out of the water, etc.

Sometimes the car or truck is some distance from the dive spot. Lugging two sets of gear both ways isn't the best.

The idea of a wheeled contrivance to massively simplify this is extremely appealing. The one catch: We have to take it on the airplanes to and from. This means something lightweight, collapsible or foldable, rugged enough to withstand baggage handlers and systems, yet with balloon-type tires to handle the fine sand in the Caribbean.

Any ideas out there?

Why not liveaboard?

Why not liveaboard?
Boat dives in general are great. She does those very well. But there are lots of shore dives that we like to do, or want to do for the first time. And as we just learned on Bonaire (first time we've ever done boat dives there), the boats all want to go to Klein Bonaire or other places "that can't be reached via shore diving".

What about these?
All great except the narrow wheels. I may have to settle for those and just carry across any sand.

Perhaps a dive luggage piece and swap out the axle and wheels for larger outrigger wheels...? 🤪

Try this search for local options for balloon wheel carts
Thanks! Didn't realize there were so many existing options. They even sell balloon wheels separately. Now that giant Mares bag with swapped out wheels isn't sounding so crazy. It would LOOK crazy, but hey... we're walking into the water with tanks and masks so clearly fashion isn't our focus.
