I have a fast two-door, which I love and which is great for everything, but hauling gear. Sometimes I am tempted to resort to #5, would be an easier approach.

Considering buying an old truck....

My Dodge Dakota gets 11mpg.
My Toyaota Tercel gets 40 mpg.
It's a four hour drive to the coast.

98 Explorer Limited v8 4x4. The only problem I have is that when hauling equipment i have to remove the 3, 15 inch subwoofers from the back, major pain in the ... Anyway I listen to Veiside, Rob Zombie, or DMX on the CD player.

Had to retire my '94 Ford Escort 800 miles short of my ultimate goal [250K miles]. The trunk of my '02 VW Jetta is so much better for dive gear than the escort was, I can actually fit two people with dive gear now! 7 months in, 10% towards my 250K goal though! Hopefully it'll be payed off before it's retired!

After years of fighting to get the whole family + gear for anything, snowboarding, football, ect.. into a supercab Ranger it is sweet to have room for the gear and people too.
I haven't tried backing into the water and doing a giant stride off of tailgate like those guys from Texas! Yet.

87 4Runner, bought it new in 87 and it is still going strong!!! 238,000 miles and my best dive buddy. Set up for shore diving with tank racks, wet gear stowage, I even have a hot water shower setup. Wouldn't trade it for anything, it's been to the tip of baja and up to BC. That's why I call it the Divrnr (4Runner used for diving).=-) Here's a pic of it...

You have a hot water shower setup? I've gotta ask - how does this work and where does the hot water come from?
