There a are a few of us totally interested in more info on the Cooper River. Better maps of the river, dive sites, dive boats and operations servicing the area, etc.

If I were diving the Cooper, I'd call Charleston Scuba and tell them that you want to do a river dive.

They've got an associate who does Charleston river diving exclusively. He's got a great rep, although I haven't used him.

He's probably the easiest way to get to the right spot and find the right stuff. :D

By the way, don't expect a bargain. Last I looked, two tank trips were in the $100 range, and only ran from May until September. They make no guarantees about finding teeth, but many have had great luck. Tell them SeaJay from Beaufort sent you and that you're interested in doing a fossil dive with their "river specialist." :D

Hey SeaJay it is great to have the site up and running again. Missed it. I want to read up on the Beaufort 45 which you told me about a few weeks ago. Hopefully we can dive it when Don and I come down in May! I am looking at Saturday, May 22 or Sunday, May 23rd/ Actually, we could dive any day of the week! Will probably head back up to Michigan the following Sunday! Let me know what you think!

Yep, the Beaufort 45 is just waiting for us. :D

A weekend dive would be best for us... I'll get in touch with a local dive charter and see what I can pull together for us.

I honestly have no idea what to expect in terms of vis, but I'm thinking that stuff in the 10' range would be pretty good for that area... Maybe 15' max... At 45', you'll feel like an explorer on a deep ocean dive, though... Without the massive risks. :D

The trip out there won't be bad, either... Probably about 20 minutes each way.

There will definately be a comprehensive section on the Cooper. I've got a lot of feedback from people worldwide who are dying to get wet in our ditch for some teeth and bones! Plenty of great spots along the river will be posted, but of course the best ones are more secret than the Coca-Cola formula. You have to get us pretty full of rum to get one of those.

Capt. Mark at Freedom At Depth (that's the website I'm working on) says they just finished overhauling the river boat and they'll run out there any day of the week you want, as long as there are 3 or more people interested. Regular runs go out weekends. The cost I was quoted was $103 using their tanks, $85 if you bring your own.

Take a look at the old website at http://www.freedomatdepth.com so you can see the HUGE difference between the one that's up now and the new one I'm putting up at the end of next month.

Thanks for the input!

There's a ton of great information on the Deep South Divers website. http://www.DeespSouthDivers.org

Go to "Dive" and then "Places to Dive."

If you guys ever have prolems with hosting again, I've got a dedicated "scuba server" at our e-commerce company. Hosting for diving-related sites are free, as long as you put a banner on the bottom of your front page for my printer ink cartridge site. Gotta love corporate sponsorship.

Have fun at Beaufort 45!

Heh.

Thanks for the offer. :D

You know how it is... Servers die from time to time. This one bit it hard. I built a new one. I don't foresee any problems with this new one... It's pretty sweet.

It wasn't the "hosting company's" fault. :D

What e-commerce company do you own/run?

Didn't know it was something you did yourself. Never ceases to amaze me that every time I meet another diver, he or she has an amazing and eclectic range of skills. Hope this new server behaves for ya.

We have a company for about 3 years now that sells replacement ink and toner cartridges for printers. Check out one of our sites, http://www.printerinkworld.com. Another person makes our sites look good, I write all the guts that drive the e-commerce engine.

By the way, your Deep South Divers site is wonderful. Lots of good info, and I am blown away by those pics from the World's Underwater Digital Photo Contest.

Yep. I own a local ISP. We do Beaufort and Hilton Head with wireless high speed stuff... Mostly commercial, complete with included dialtone and long distance.

The offer was nice, though.

Yep... Geek diver. That's me. :D Heck, I gotta do something to afford to dive. :D

Hope this new server behaves for ya.

Yeah, that last one lasted about six years and was getting long in the tooth anyway. This new one ought to be fine for the next few years. I just wasn't thinking that I'd need to replace it now. Lol...

Oh, very cool. I'll send you the business, then. We probably go through a dozen different types of ink every month... Toner... Laser cartridges and blocks... And of course, inkjet cartridges.

Impressive, by the way... A "real, live" programmer. In the world of countless web designers, you guys are really hard to find. Talk about an eclectic range of skills!

Hey, thanks... Yeah, I know how you feel about the pictures... I felt the same way about them when I first saw them. I was thrilled to find out that they'd let us use their artwork liberally on the site.

There's lots of other donated stuff, too, including lots and lots of video (owning a high speed ISP, I'm a nut for multimedia). Most of the wreck research I did on my own, and much of the design was done with great input from the members. Then there's the writings... The valuable links for weather, diving resources, shopping... :D

Sorry, now I'm sounding like a salesman. Lol...

Thanks for the compliment.

You own a local ISP? :togo: My sympathies! (Just kidding) I ran the Sales and Technical Support departments for the now-defunct A World Of Difference (AWOD) here in Charleston from 1994 to 1997. What chaos! But, I wouldn't trade that experience for the world. And, of course, it's always nice to have T1+ bandwidth available to use and abuse at your leisure. It's good to be king, sometimes.

I really do enjoy web programming and building servers, which is a good thing. Many years ago, I had to come to terms with the fact that I am not a bit visually creative. All those web designers that can sit down and whip out a dazzling interface in 30 minutes amaze me. Whenever I get too much of the "grass is greener" feeling though, I imagine them trying build, configure and lock down a dns server. Please don't burst my bubble by reminding me that many of them can, I really like that fatansy.

Thanks for any business you send us. Like you, I've got an expensive addiction (diving) that I can't seem to shake. We treat all our customers like gold, and I promise you will never be disappointed with the service you receive. (Now who sounds like a salesman?)

I actually am originally from Beaufort, went to Beaufort Academy (go Eagles!), grew up around Pigeon Point and Hermitage, and still have family all over there from Ladys Island to Lobeco. My wife is from Charleston and often asks me to take her down there and show her the places where I lived and played. I haven't been there in years though, what's it like these days?
