I bought a brand new Suunto Vyper2 computer for my wife. On dive #1 with it in Cozumel, she loses it off of her wrist. That's when I finally got a clue that she really doesn't want to dive...

I lost a weight pouch to my BC with weight in it. I was doing a Kayak dive and apparently my weight pouch did not get secured in my BC and I started my dive and noticed that I was swiming at an awckward angle and looked over at my BC pocket and saw that it was not there anymore. I looked for it but could not find it.

Not one but 2 dive knives in the Coz airport..Becuz I was too stupid to remember to take them off the Regs we were carrying thru the airport.......

I lost an Olympus 720 camera, case, and strobe while assisting another diver...it floated away off the Mexican coast.

I lost a set a weights and pocket when required to hand to boat crew when boarding.

Found a very nice light and weight belt. Light belong to DM who had helped another diver having problems. The weight belt belong to the boat.

1. A knife- out of holster during dive- don't know how. Now I use 2 straps on it and connect it to the holster with fishing line.
2. A shell collecting goodie bag.
3. The bezel off my console compass (on an oil rig 2 weeks ago- damn those rigs). Let's see if I can replace THAT $.75 piece of plastic without buying a new compass. That will happen after (U.S.) airlines go back to 2 free checked bags and serve food.

1. A couple of snorkels. I don't dive with a snorkel anymore and that's probably why I haven't lost one in a couple of years.
2. A light somehow unclipped itself from my BCD.
3. An earring in Cozumel. Which I found when I turned and saw something shiny in the sand. When I got close I thought I found an earring but when I saw it looked like the ones I was wearing or thought I was wearing I checked my ears.

I lost my wedding ring. To make it even worst, it was my new ring my wife got for me on our 25th anniversary.

I lost a just replaced dive computer at Anacapa Island (California Channel islands).
The boat had/ has an exit gate with a large tab for the chain. It grabbed my console hose, stretched the retraction lanyard, yanked me sideways, and popped the computer out. $400 +.
I heard I was not the first or last to get caught on that gate obstruction.

I lost an official GMT (Gator Management Tool) while dealing with a birdsnest reel. This is actually a 14" piece of AL with a blunt end on a small loop of line- seriously used for finding artifacts w/o damaging them, but also useful when slamming them upright into the open jaws of a gator to prevent shredding and tearing.......or so I tell new divers.:D

Wrist mount computers are the way to go. Take it out of the fancy strap it comes in and put the computer in a bungee mount using 2 separate pieces of bungee.
