Just new to this site and wanted to see if people are still usin steel btls for staging deco?
If so what size btls are we using?
I have 2 faber 39 steel btls and people look at me like I am crazy.

AL 40 or 80 due to their buoyancy characteristics. An HP40 would feel like an anchor by comparison.
Would you say these are worthless than?

When I began tech diving (ca. 1994), the group of us who were learning together wore two OMS (Faber) LP46's as our deco cylinders, one on each side (left lean, right rich), pumped to 3,000 psig (or more). That was drysuit diving in the (very cold) Great Lakes.

These (LP46's) don't work well if you prefer to dive both deco cylinders on one side (e.g., both on left side), though.

Not my first choice for deco, but if you're ok with them, what's the issue?

I will take them off your hands free of charge!
But buying new tanks....with my money...I would take an AL80.

Act normal and stare back. Maybe do a little dance?
Who are these people who live such empty lives that they take time out of their day to care about your stage bottles.
Seriously, if that is what you have, use it. Don't spend extra money on other people's feelings.

Or… get the right gear for the application.

OMS 45s I prefer them vs alu 40s but don't have any real issues with alu 40s.

I'll take those off your hands if you don't want them.
