I do my best scalloping Nov-March and there isn't any wait at the boat landing :) Of course, the parking attendant just shakes his head when he sees me gearing up. I always give him a quart of scallops on the way out so he really likes me.

Gidds:
What do you all do in the winter?
When do you usually pack it in for the season?
Pretty soon it's gonna be too cold for me to get in the water unless I get on top of the drysuit thing ASAP.
I don't want to get out of the water!
*crosses arms and looks stubborn while trying not to shiver*
I'm sure I can dive in the pool to do skills but how boring!

I dive :)

Soggy:

ditto - in the winter we can actually see some nice vis are these parts. Plus, the dive sites/boats are less crowded and parking is less of a problem.

Personally, as long as the air temp is above freezing on dive day, I dive.

What a sympathetic bunch!
That's it! I'm going to sell my soul so I can afford a drysuit!
The inevitable question: what critters can you see in the winter?

What do you all do in the winter? Same thing I do in the summer: dive.

When do you usually pack it in for the season? "Pack it in?" Maybe if the ice is too thick...

Pretty soon it's gonna be too cold for me to get in the water unless I get on top of the drysuit thing ASAP. :idea3:

I take trips throughout the winter to warm caribbean islands. from Nov. til April.

You WWW crack me up. ;)

Putting on the gear for a dive in 45F water on a 90F sunny day isn't much in the way of fun. Fall means the air temps drop while the water temps remain warm for months - my favorite time of year for diving is right after the lake turns over.

Actually, the coldest dive I've ever done was 5F topside and 32F in the water. It was pretty amazing watching the huge sheets of ice flake off the drysuit and all the regs start free-flowing, though it would have been more fun if my feet didn't keep freezing to the ground. :D

Please guys do not forget about me !!! we have to do the ice diving thing !!!

tip. Usually is good idea to have two girlfriends one in FL and other in CA for the winter.

Hehe, a good year round fanatic dive buddy is hard to come by, you bet I won't forget to call you! :D
