I was diving in a storm (from a typhoon 2-300 miles away) and the visibility was down to 2 or 3 meters: I had never seen viz that short. We were lucky enough to see a huge school of sardines and a 1 meter jack (trevally) that was tracking it. :)

It wasn't as great a dive as it could have been with better visability, on the other hand, being underwater seems to beat being above the water. I guess what I learned is that whatever the conditions are, you can't see something new if you don't dive.

Regards,
Bob

I learned that my buddy can't hear my quacker, or tank banger, or a small explosion when he's wearing a hood.

I also learned that when you clear your mask with a hood on, air finds its way into the top of it, making an "Egg Head" out of you. I get to see myself everytime I watch the video of my last dive in Coz. The nylon hood controls my hair. But to see myself with an egg head, well, I tossed the hood. :(

A few dives back. I learned with a hood on, you can't hear your computer ascent rate warning alarm. Only a thin hood for tropics, so cut/burnt holes for the ears/top & can now hear alarm & my buddy. It's still warm enough.

I learned that a full drysuit flood in 53F water makes for a very cold diver....unfortunately, also a stubborn one who wants to dive as much as possible and still made it 30 minutes.

That a crappy viz photo dive at 85 ft can be a wonderful photo op safety stop at 15 ft!! You just never know, do you?

UXO from WWII is still here.

I learned from my last dive that a leaky dry suit makes for a long, cold weekend. Post dive, i was pleased w/ my dry suit mfr's warranty was as long as it is.

i learned that even "simple" dives at "boring" sites can be great! lots of people poo-poo the wreck of the centurion, but it was great viz (15-20m), tons of fishlife, and good fun

.....or a small explosion when he's wearing a hood.(

 Demolition crew I hope :rofl3:. Or a munitions expert.

Solution is easy. Use a hot nail to burn/poke a hole in the top of the hood. Air goes out, no more egg head and hair like you just came from the hairdresser :eyebrow:
