Eventually ended up with:

Atomic Framless Mask
Apollo Split Fins (for 90% of my diving, KMA Dan Volker) :)
Halcyon Infinity but still use my back inflate BCD for pool work and other occasions.

Just mostly stuff that wore out or broke

My buddy Justin purchased Bobs Fusion. He indicated that it did not fit him well. Justin got a good deal! I think the Fusion is the best drysuit on the market and will buy one someday....

FYI I also Dive an Atomic Frameless mask, and Biofins are my goto fin.

The only thing so far that I regret purchasing and replaced, (well not really replaced just went back to what I was using originally) was a halcyon bp&w with 1 piece webbing. Everyone said that they were the best and most comfortable thing in the world to dive with. Lasted 5 dives over 2 days. The most uncomfortable rig I ever tried getting in and out of. (Shoulder injuries from being in 2 auto accidents in 6 months. Hit by drunks both times) I actually cut myself out of the webbing the after the last dive, sold the plate. At least i have a spare wing I can use on my transpac.

Don't forget about replacing your single guy drysuit and getting a married fat guy drysuit!!!!

That is a bad move, that means soon to be divorced guy suite. Better to stay in shape and continue to use that single guy suite even after married

Actually not much since I resumed diving early 09. I replaced a Mares Dragon by a Zeagle Express Tech and a Sherwood dual octo by a Mares Proton Metal.

Having said that I did buy additional equipment to complement my initial kit:
a 3mm wet suit and a Fusion Drysuit to complement my 7mm + 7mm shorty (and each get a chance to play during my diving season)
Turtle Fins (Dry) to complement Mares Quattro Excel (Single/travel)
Zeagle SS BP/Wg (doubles) to complement Express tech (single/travel)
Zeagle FH VI (doubles) and HOG D2 Cold water (stages) to complement Sherwood SR1 (single/travel)
Shearwater Predator (Tech) to complement Suunto Vyper (rec/travel/tech back-up in gauge mode).

Here's one from a total Noob.... Make sure that you get the right size gloves. Originally I got a pair of Aqua Lung Thermoclines - at a size large, and ended up returning them due to holes, but due to my own mistake, I should have gotten xtra large instead of large. I also ended up getting a second pair of Oceanic Makos - in the right size and those are extremely comfortable.

I should be testing those out when I start my class sometime soon.

Although they are considered a 'failure point' by some, having a quick release sewn into the webbing, on at least one side of a harness, can make a lot of difference. Even for those of us who haven't had shoulder injuries, and are perhaps just more 'chronologically gifted' and less flexible, it can be a challenge to get out of (moreso than getting into, I think) a BP harness at times. Particularly in a drysuit, I need the quick release, and it makes all the difference, being able to unclip one shoulder strap (left) and then slip out of the other side (right).

It also sounds like you may have had a particularly snug harness fit, which makes matters worse.

I guess that I am selling the wrong gear. Is it a smart retail strategy to only sell gear once with a lifetime warranty?
Being in the SCUBA biz for 30+ year dealing mainly with Scubapro, my reply to my clients question " What gear do I need to

replace " is nothing!

Sure they need to replace worn out straps and mouthpieces.

If you buy the best quality gear once, then you don't have to pay twice.

Even when they have needed to replace it, Scubapro offers a more than fair upgrade/trade in deal. For example, the Mk 20 to Mk 25 for $25.

I just upgraded/traded in a very old Scubapro D300 to a new ScubaproS600 for a song. Do you think my client was ecstatic getting a new reg for an old one?

The caveat is they must be the original owner. Such is the benefit of the warranty. You buy used gear. You get a lower price, but no warranty.

It is amazing how many years you can get out of a pair of jet fins, even more amazing that we are still selling them after 40 years.

Now, the Nova, Twin Jet and Twin Jet max come with a lifetime warranty ( even on the strap & buckle ).

I find my clients fall in Love with their gear. Even after decades, you could not replace their worn out leaking orange stab jacket even though they could get a new one at a sizable discount on a trade-in deal from Scubapro!

Following this thread, it seems like most divers have replaced their gear because they got into Tec diving.

I would think that most divers who go Tec, do a fair number of dives on their way and got a reasonable amount of dives on their Rec gear.

As far as the argument, "Just Buy Tec to begin with" ; my question is "what percentage of divers are Rec divers and what % go Tec"?

I would guess we have a very small % of Tec divers in our pool.( No pun intended )

Of course if you think you may want to Go Tec, then buy accordingly from the get go.

SCUBA is the only sport that I play that I can buy gear once!

I have been skiing for as long as I have been diving ( 40+ Yrs. ) and I have gone through dozens of skis, but my original Mk 5/ Adj 2nd would still work and be covered under warranty.

I just wish I still had it. I did not need to upgrade, but as a dive professional I guess it made sense.

As a Scubapro Platinum Dealer, I am happy to keep telling my clients that they need to replace " NOTHING "!
