I only carry Tribolube. I use it on all O-rings - even cameras, dry boxes, lights, etc. I know it's expensive, but the contents of a $50 tube lasts years, and I never am concerned about cross contamination. One tube on my workbench, one in my SAD kit.

The solution is simple: figure out the material used in the o-rings and select a lubricant compatible with the material. If you use incompatible greases, o-rings will swell or become damaged over time.

For silicone o-rings, use silicone compatible greases - most O2 safe will do. SuperLube Synthetic Grease has good, but not excellent compatibility with silicone. KY or other personal lubricants are okay, too. Saliva isn't an appropriate lubricant because it won't seal as well as proper grease.

This is a good starting point from SuperLube:

Four litres of glycerine is the same price as 3 tubes of ky and all that other water based lubricant from the shop

Lasts for a very long time

I cut it 50% ish with water and lubricate my oxygen booster with it
