I've had my Ultima rings for a bit over 200 dives now.
I've lubricated the o rings TWICE in that time, once when they were brand new and once again some 50 dives ago.
I have never "cleaned" them either, apart from when I lubricated them.

The only leak I've had in that time was from a punctured thumb in my glove.

I have never heard of a need to grease them every dive day from any of my buddies who use them either.

Good for you. If only we were all so lucky.

I dive in silty green water and **** gets gritty. The process i describe works for me and my conditions. If i don't follow it then i get wet.

Thanks everyone for all the great input. Flashlight test a great idea.

Cheers, Don.

Grease is not a friend to exposed O-rings. I hit mine with a bar of soap every 10 dives or so. The grease attracts dirt and contaminants causing small leaks and they can dislodge easier.
I have been diving the Ultimas for several years without failure.

Sorry to necro this thread, but I am also diving Ultimas and I've determined that my recent leaks are from a small cut in the red glove-side o-rings. But I can't seem to find them online and my LDS has never seen them before -- does anyone know where I can get replacements?

From the "Rolock 90" thread:
O-ring size: 341 x 70 durometer (BUNA) used as a replacement for the o-rings that come with the Waterproof Ultima DGS to retain gloves on their rings.

From the "Rolock 90" thread:
The o-rings mentioned in my post quoted above are not for replacing the red o-rings...they are for replacing the black o-rings that come with the Ultima ring system to retain gloves on the glove-side rings.

The red o-rings are sealing the glove-side rings to the suit-side rings.

There was a discussion at one point on the board about what to use to replace the red o-rings but I don't think a suitable aftermarket substitute was found while that discussion thread was active. I believe the folk(s) looking to replace their red o-rings wound up buying OEM o-rings either directly from Waterproof or from a local/online shop.
