SS, any comments on the above posts, about what hapened to that group of divers when they were victims of crimes on Bonaire: break ins and rental vehicle crime? I'd be interestd in what you have to say about that, not about Charlotte NC, where divers do no go becsue there is no diving here

Sure PiFi. NEXT!

I know these people and they were victims. The police have arrested the theives already, and things are in process. This is a valid posting.

Liz

Now perhaps you can do us the favour of explaining to us how this translates into the police not doing anything? This instance only. Not a different one. You claimed that there is no police intervention on Bonaire and that they are doing NOTHING to stop crime. Perhaps you can tell us how that relates to this?

So are you claiming that the police in Bonaire are not involving themselves in crime to stop it because crime still happens? It really does nothing to say that the Police are not intervening because it really is a ridiculous and unfounded statement. They just arrested a small group of people for the recent thefts. These are the same people that they arrested before. Other things are happening (Liz has referenced them in various posts)......you have zero clue what they are or are not doing. You are making blanket statements that are not based in fact but fiction. Crime exists. YES. The police are working to stop and prevent whatever they can. YES! Could they do different things? Perhaps but neither you or I can say for sure because we do not know what they ARE doing......just as we do not know exactly (and everything) that our local police forces do.

Perhaps you can also comment on every part of the above corrected post Pilot Fish. I have removed the reference to your crime riddled city and changed it back to the country of Bonaire. Now you should have no issue with it and should be able to add value to the conversation by addressing the issues and questions raised.

Fixed that for ya. You accidentally used the Canadian spelling of Bonaire.

Thanks Docc. I guess I can safely admit I made a simple error since I am among friends and Pilot Fish too :D

SS, do you have any proof that the police have really apprehended the crooks, or is that unconfirmed rumor? Since you are a stickler for that proof stuff, I'm sure you can produce something that confirm that?

Any comment on the above posted account of Bonaire crime to that group of divers? uh, not surprised it has shocked you as well.

Sure, be glad to comment on that. Do not come to Charlotte NC to dive. Spend your dive dollars in a safer place. The vis sucks her anyway:eyebrow:

One place to stay in Bonaire that appears pretty secure is Harbour Village; we tried to visit the restaurant La Balandra, like back in 2004 when we stayed at Eden Beach, and they would not let us. Their new policy is that only registered guests or owners may use the restaurant - same goes for the dive operation there, which we also dove with in 2004. There is now a uniformed guard at the gates.

When we stayed in Cuba, there was an armed guard stationed at the bottom of the stairs leading up to our hotel room. The place was surrounded by a 10 foot barbed wire fence.

Would be interested to see some hard data re: crime on Bonaire compared to other islands. But I guess it is not something the government publishes here in Bonaire.

Do you have any proof that they do not have them in custody? You are yet again just choosing what to facts to listen to and what to ignore based on how well it meshes with your anti-Bonaire compaign.

As for the two post post you ask about.....Give me the coles notes version if you want me to comment. I have NEVER read a post on SB that was that long and am definitely going to waste my time if it came from you. Coles notes and I will gladly comment Pilot Fish.

I am sorry PF but the post you wrote referenced an area that was not Boanire. Perhaps you could keep it to the applicable region/country. Thank you in advance for your cooperation here.
