I'm setting up a pony bottle that I plan on using as a deco bottle in a deco/adv EANx class. I don't want to spend money on a 1st and 2nd stage reg set that can't grow into the deco bottle duties.

What type of regs do you use on your deco bottle?

Planning on buying an AL40 and slinging it as a pony to practice this configuration. Probably 130 ft max as a pony bottle, assume 70 ft mod as a deco bottle.

I'm not into tech classes yet so any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

My Deco regs are Apeks DS4's with ATX-40 seconds O2 cleaned.

Before my first tec class it was suggested to me to sling a 40 and practice switching regs and clipping and unclipping the bottle.

Aqualung conshelf. They are like the chevy truck of regs. There are millions of them out there and parts are easy to get. You don't need a high performance reg for deco, look for a workhorse.

Aqualung Titan LX. Inexpensive yet a great performer. They have really held up in spite of the treatment stage regs get!

Yep, I'm using Conshelf 22s on mine. These take a licking and just keep ticking and breathe really well.

For "normal" diving, I use this rig for every redundancy/deco/stage, etc. (except in cold/icy water): Apeks DS4 1st stage and the US Divers/Aqualung Conshelf 14 2nd stage.

Nothing but Poseidon Cyclon for me. Primary, pony, deco. Like breathing on the surface.

Same as my primaries and backups - MK25/S600.
