Heyy yall i am new to this website and i joined because i wanted to find a place to ask certain questions and i thought who better to ask than the experts lol
I want to go diving with whale sharks this coming year, it would be my first time, question is..

Is there anywhere that allows diving with them?
I do want to go somewhere where they are treated properly.

Also hopefully a place between june and august. TIA for your recommendations.

Not an expert but I think Indonesia’s Cenderawasih Bay is a little later in the year. You might want to look at the Galapagos, pretty sure the season there is July to November.

I will add that if you want to go to the Galapagos, there are a TON of really helpful threads on here where people have gone super in depth on those trips and their research for them.

Lots of places do, Philippines, Australia, Indonesia and more. Times of the year vary according to the places. Australia is in July August or so, however it is a very remote place and would be hard to get to for you, it is hard for me!

Philippines is in February and March at least, well where I went the Ticao/Donsol area.

I see that you are in Florida. Mexico (Jun - Sept), Belize (Mar - June) and Utila (Honduras) (Mar - April) are options that are roughly a 2hr plane ride away from you. (I listed aprox peak months in parenthesis) That being said do your research with charters and such. Some places will only allow you to snorkel only but if you're diving and the whale shark comes near you, that's another matter. Good luck, enjoy and make sure you post a trip report!

I was there in October and we had close encounters with large sharks on every dive at Darwin Island. (Not to mention hundreds of hammerheads at Wolf).

Isla Mujeres, Mexico.......

Close, all snorkeling (you'll swim your butt off) but a lot closer and possible!

South Ari Atoll in the Maldives. Stayed on Angaga Island, it was a day trip to the area near lux hotel as far as I remember. It combined snorkeling with 2 dives. They said chances are better while snorkeling but we saw one on both dives!
