Depends wherre your stuff is coming from. Japan has the upper hand on off the rack color. US based stuff is mosty black, maybe a few accent panels.

My wife dives a yellw/pink/blue Atlan suit that I can follow through the SKIRT of my mask. Makes her nice and easy to keep track of.

As mentioned the lighter colors are vulnerable to smudging and will dull if you bake them in the sun or do pool time.

I will be looking to incorporate yellow in my next suits.

I've just encountered a unique problem....

Finally convinced the missus to get her open water certification....yahoo
Now I have to look for a "funky" wetsuit to suit her exquisite tatstes.....not good

All the usual stuff is a little staid it seems. Anybody know any manufacturer or shop selling any suits with a bit of that 'lucy in the sky wit diamonds" look? ie wooooohoooohooo

Don't know about wetsuits, but www.divegoddess.com sells skins that range from the unusual to the outrageous...I had a friend show up wearing one on a dive trip and I had to ask- you definitely couldn't miss her in the water.

OMG!!! Talk about standing out!!!! Those are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hmm, it will be even EASIER to spot you if you have a bright neon green or orange 10ft SMB. Even a safety orange wetsuit is gonna be hard to spot when your body is mostly underwater. But out of curiousity, when you fully inflate your BCD, how high out of the water are you? Neck high? Shoulder high? Waist high?

Well better safe than sorrry, why not just get that little extra and stand out? Everyone wears black now, its so 2001 Go for the most obnoxious loud painful color you can get and I say the heck with everyone else, let them laugh.

But I do agree a very good safety sausage made from neon green is a definite need. And hopefully when fully inflated you aren't that much out of the water, unless of course you get the new Miracle of the Fishes BCD which when fully inflated makes you walk on water, oh and has a snack built in too...

A little color works well in differentiating suits. I was on a boat once and watched a wife mistakenly put on her husband's large suit and he tried to put on her small one. Both suits were the same brand and all black. That was funny. She claimed later that she had wanted to one with yellow on it and her husband balked. After that, I bet she gets her yellow one.
Another time, I was on a boat and was getting teased about the bright pink suit I had on (got it from a jet ski store, not a dive shop). Later, a pair of divers got separated from our group in limited visibility. They thanked me once we were back on the boat because they swam in the general direction that they thought we had gone and the first thing they saw were my green fins and my pink suit.

A collection I made from all the suggestions that were given here on threads like this one, and some that I've found on my own ...

I do not get the "your not a real diver unless you wear black" thing ether :shakehead
A custom design and color can pick you out of the crowd, looks cool, and can make keeping track of you in poor viz easier (one reason that I wear a fluor. yellow mask strap cover)

Yo, it's not a good idea to wear either blue or red suits. You may be mistaken for a Blood or a Crip, and get shot in a swim-by.
