I'm looking forward to meeting all of you who dive Monday morning.

michaelp68, sorry can't make Monday but glad to see you got hooked up with a group. I dove today with ScubaBruce from the boat launch side. Decent vis, water temps in the 60's and then dropped to 52 at about 30 feet. We had a good time. Both of us had some new gear configs to work out so was a good dive for that. Maybe can hook up with some of you all on another day.

I did most of my advanced training at Westhill lake since it was private training and vis and conditions were always good. During one of our dives my instructors fin fell off the raft and sank to the bottom. It has his nick name "Brummy" on it. He moved out of state and I told him to keep the other fin because I will one day hold a find Mikes fin dive and find it for him. They were his old favorite fins.

ScubaSarus,
You'll NEVER guess what Bruce and I found on our dive! On our way back towards the rocks heading to the boat launch I saw something sticking straight up stuck in the bottom. As I got closer I noticed it was a fin. Bruce was on the left side, me on the right of it. Just as I read the word "Brummy" Bruce hit it with his arm and grabbed it. It was like a road sign in the middle of nowhere.

Happy Diving.....

I can't believe it. I spent 4 dives trying to find that fin and you guys got it on youre first search of the season. You guys get an automatic search and rescue certification for that find. Wow I'm impressed bigtime. No how do I get the fin back to Mike in Wisconsin. I also hope he kept the other fin. Thanks for the great dive story.

Bruce has it, he mentioned sending it to him. Yeah that was just pure luck. We pretty much ran right into it.

We did end up diving West Hill today. Finally met up with Mike and Carla from scubaboard, as well as Gus. We had a pretty good dive. Spent the majority of the dive down around 40-45 ft. Not too much for fish, but we didn't go out towards the rocks. Maybe next time we'll head out in that direction and hopefully see some more life. All in all a great dive with some great people. Hope to dive again. Glad you made it.

Was definitely a nice dive and the weather was better than I expected. I got a max depth of 49 feet and lowest temp of 42 degrees ( BRRRRRR ) Looking forward to diving with you all again:D

Great dive today.

But first, for those who didn't make out with us today, hopefully next time.

So we parked at Brodie Park in the beach parking lot. Instead of entering the water from the beach, however, we entered to the left of the beach (looking out at the water) from a dock where a lifeguard at the beach said they prefer divers to enter the water.

Also, fyi, the head lifeguard/recreational director came and spoke with us. She wanted to check our c-cards before we dove. So, make sure you have it with you if you dive from Brodie Park....

Visibility was 10 feet, so it wasn't as good as the last time I was here. But, it was good enough and nice to be wet.

We headed toward the deep part and like Shane said, most of the dive was in the 40-45 foot range for depth. I think that my maximum depth was 48 feet.

We just circled around a bit and explored. I don't think we saw too much and I, too, will probably head over to the rock pile/island next time where I'm sure there will be more to see.

Air temperature was around 70 degrees. Water temperature at the surface was 60 degrees. My computer showed the lowest temperature at depth to be 43 degrees.

Overall, it was quite a fun dive. It was nice to get out with my buddy, Gus, and it was particularly nice to meet new friends, Shane and Carla. I'm looking forward to diving with you two again.

I'm hoping to go to Ft. Wetherill next weekend early one morning. Hmmmmmm.

Also thanks for the heads up on the C-Card. If you did forget, you'de just have to dive from the boat launch which is publicfor the state. Brodie park has its liability and probably was just protecting its self. Sounds reasonable. Not much to see at 50ft but you never know what you may find. The rock piles are interesting.

Take care

Chris

Well it looks like the Find Mikes Fin dive has been cancelled thanks to Bruce and RiverRat for finding the fin. It would have been a fun event.

Well Mike emailed me to congradulate you 2 for a great find. He is absolutely happy as he has kept the other fin. He emailed me his address in Wisconsin and I forwarded it to Bruce.

I present you 2 with an honoray Search and Rescue Certification :)

Job well done.

P.S.
I was kinda looking forward to the find Mikes Fin Dive and now we need to plan another event of some sort.

Chris
