10lbs on hips. Bullets on a weight belt.

Couldn't justify spending the money on integrated pockets to replace a few bullets on the hips.

Put on all your gear and accessories and try it out in a pool. Once you have mastered your bouyancy and trim in a pool, just remember that you'll need a few more, say 2-4 pounds or so, in saltwater.

Man you guys/gals are great. All very very useful advice.

I think I will go with AE3753's advice and try the rig out with a weight belt, since I already have one, and see how things go. I only dive with 14#'s with a 7mm so, my weight belt is not that heavy to begin with. I'll give it a go, and see what I like best. Sorry I called the transpac II a BP& W set up, I've been looking at their website so much, I kinda just lumped them all together.

Thanks again!

Diving in a drysuit complicates things espically if you have on heavy thermals and have a skinny butt. My weight belt tends to slide down which is really aggravating even though I have a depth compensating buckle. I recently purchased two Dive Rite Weight Pouches that I can load right on my harness. Can't wait to try it out
It will also be nice to lose the second buckle. Have fun and dive safe!

I use a coupla' X=pockets on my harness and keep 2# in each. I like how it helps my trim (plus gives me ditchable weight I'll never need). That said, I think I would like to try DUI's weight system sometime.

DA Aquamaster:
I have an AL BP and wing and I prefer the dive rite weight pouches to a belt. Because 1) they are easier and simpler to use, 2) keep the weight located where it needs to be to float you upright to face up on the surface, and 3) eliminate one more buckle cluttering things up in front.

I dive dry or with a 7mm semi-dry and it is very fast and easy to adjust the weight requirements with the integrated weight pockets. The position of the weight pockets also eliminates the clutter and potential snags associated with the various trim weights people seem to like to stick all over the place to make up for the poor weight ditribution that can occur with a weght belt.

How do these secure to the 2in webbing?
thanks,
Randy

I use the TPII w/ travel wings for warm water, single tank diving and it works great. I started out using a weight belt but since I'm tall and thin I get a back ache from the weights pulling one way and the bc pulling the other. I got the 32# pockets and now it's great. No back ache, easy on, easy off, everything in one place (nice for small boats).

The pockets are a bit bulky and I think the trim is not quite as good as a well set up weight belt. But ballanced against the added comfort for me it's no contest.

I just returned from the Bahamas and dove my BP&W for the first time. I reduced my weights from 18lbs to 12lbs and feel I can still take more off. I'll give you some of my thoughts about weighting. Put some weight on your tank to stay vertical in the water at the surface. Put the rest in/on a weight belt. Be conscious of the crotch strap being under any belt or harness, or it may not be as ditchable as you think. If you buy a harness that integrates your weight you will probably be dragging you and the dead lead over the side of some of the dive boats you may encounter, since the harnesses aren't easily removed. After all they are designed to dump weight quickly, and be comfortable. I would be more inclined to buy a harness that integrates the weight system if I were diving 7mm farmer johns, or drysuits. In those situations the weight can be so high that diving with weight belt is very uncomfortable. Good luck
