Has anyone ever tried threading a smaller 2-4 pound weight on each side of the waist strap of a bp/wing to reduce weight on belt?

Hi Firediver32,

I do it all the time although the right weight pouch tends to slide out as there's nothing to prevent it from moving around. It's something to watch out for when you are removing your rig.

Because I'm leg heavy, I place 2 pouches at the bottom of my tank strap instead and I never use a weight belt anymore.

Cheers,

SangP

I dive steel tanks most of the time. When I found myself in the Cayman Island diving with AL 72's not 80's. As I don't wear a weight belt I just adapted. I took two two pounders and threaded them on each side of my belt and had no problem maintaining proper buoyancy.

If you're going to do this as a matter of routine you might want to try the plastic coated weights as they tend to slip less or simply use a weight keeper on each one and you eliminate the sliding off problem.
