Just received a new 40cf tank and DIN valve in the mail. The DIN valve is brand new, but has what appears to be a blob of wax inside of the oriface. Is this a shipping thing to keep the valve clean, or did a bee sh*t in my valve? The valve is supposed to be nitrox clean.

I just bought the same thing and the valve was clear. If it doesn't blow out clean, I would not consider it clean. Nitrox clean to me is a non-thing, so if it's supposed to be O2 service, I would err on side of anal :D

Think I'll email the guy - you can't blow it out if you can't fill the tank in the first place - the valve was not fitted to the tank. Just noticed it will need a VIP anyway.

okay, think I've got it figured now - just needs some cleaning. Looked like gunk in there that wasn't supposed to be, but it's just discolored chrome or nickel. It's off to the LDS this weekend for a VIP and O2 cleanign anyway, if there's a problem they will let me know.
