I'll be out in LA/SD this summer (mid-July to mid-August) and wondering about water temps then. Also, what undergarments are people diving that time of year? I have a 2mm compressed neo suit. Pretty sure my current undergarment (Pinnacle Merino Evo) will be too warm. Thanks.

It really can depend. For example, last year we were logging temps into the 70's on dives in the July/August time frame ... a few weeks later we saw low 50's.

In general, you can probably count on temps being in the mid 50's to mid 60's depending on the exact site. Some spots always seem to run a little warmer (like Laguna & Catalina), while others always seem to be a little colder (like Wreck Alley).

For undies, I pretty much wear 300 gm polartech with a moisture whicking base layer year around.

Yep. What Rick said.

Dress warmly C. . . this is the Pacific Ocean, and when that Artic water comes down, you can freeze you testifcations off!
