Update for anyone who might be interested. After a few more outings, I've decided to do some mods on my BP/W. I'll preface this by stating that I'm too old and I have no desire to tech dive of cave dive...ever. I'm replacing the super-stiff Subgravity webbing with something softer and more manageable (geez, that sounds like hair conditioner). I'm adding a chest strap with a QR to help route my shoulder straps a little better. And I'm ditching the 7' hose for a 48" hose. It will be off the 5th port, routed under my arm, captured under the right hip and up to a right angle swivel on my primary. No more wrapping hoses around my neck! DIR is a good way, but from now on, I'm DIMW.

I will always stand behind dive and let dive. Being comfortable trumps not.

I will say that there is a bit of a learning curve to the long hose, doubles setup, etc. It just takes a long time.

It's impressive when a diver throwing off the shackles of instruction finds the courage to think for themselves

Been building some rigs, with luxurious thick soft webbing that holds it's shape for gearing up etc
with 5mm shoulder pads and a loose bungee chest strap only for carrying fins and mask and stuff

Hands free for stumbling around, falling over and being smashed, Ocean shore diving

Yeah that long hose that you carry around for someone else that never uses it, let me think on that
