They drove across most of The Lone Star State over the weekend in spite of winter weather risks, took a cruise out of Galveston, and I suppose no news is good news so far in that they must have survived their port call in Progreso Wednesday. They're due in Coz this morning with plans to grab a cab to the Scuba Mau dock, then go snorkeling on a Trimaran that docks there. If you see this bunch, tell them "Granddad said to play safely...!"

Monday on Galveston's beach
The blonds are my daughter Chanda and grandson Trapper. The dark haired boy is our German student this year Oliver, an honorary towhead.
I was invited and kinda wished I had but can't stand being locked up on a cruise boat that long, so they their blond hair mom/grandmom is also with them. (Apparently I carry the family's known, recessive red hair gene passed on down to the two.) I'll go back with them when they're ready to do Coz, the peninsula, maybe Holbox.

I suggested they go to Parilla's for lunch before reboarding, but I gave them pages of suggestions. Chanda is a brilliant Special Ed teacher and Trapper is a bright brat so they'll do what they want to do, and I hope they have enjoy San Miguel and snorkeling safely.

Thursday's weather looks nice, highs in the upper 70s to maybe 80, light winds from the SE to South, so I'm optimistic. I raised the girl to not buy into motion sickness, but she does now. Hope she remembers her meds and the Trimaran is smooth...

Nice Don with your tutelage the trip will be easy or they will go nutz with all the info. lol. They'll have a blast on the tri.:D

I am sure that after snorkle lessons with you, they all will have a safe trip. Next time you might just have to buck up and go on a family cruise. Its what grandparents do. I had to go to Disney for 4 days with mine, I even had a good time!

Eh, maybe I should have. This was 6 days with only 2 port calls, 2 days nothing but slow barge at sea - really bad. We do a lot of other trips together.

Oliver arrived just before our Labor Day weekend camping trip, which my daughter planned to a campground south of Wichita Falls. He was all city boy from Berlin and was really bothered by the bugs and heat, even tho it was 10 degrees cooler than our worst one. He's such a good kid tho.

Well, I wondered in silence all week, but they got back into Galveston this morning and needed my help in turning my grandson's Droid back on. I'd turned off for the trip as a safety. It shouldn't have worked in Mexico without special request, but mine did last time. So I did hear from them a little as they were getting ready for the long drive home. She said everything went great and they had a blast. After the snorkel boat trip, they did lunch there at the Scuba Mau dock somewhere so the boys could continue snorkeling.

I thot some more about that, and with pros & cons considered, it's good that I didn't so her mom could go on this one. Most of our outings and trips are much too adventurous and strenuous for her, but she probly did fine on this one so it was good for them to take her instead this time.

I keep trying to get my daughter to stop overnight as it is a long drive back to Lubbock and this is the most dangerous part of a trip. They probly won't tho, and will probly be fine, so I'll relax when I get the "we're home" text later tonight.

Later: Arrg! She lost her cell charger at the hotel on the way down, and didn't have a car charger. Grandson had his at least. Car chargers are essential when one drives out of town. But they made it home safely. :thumb:
