I found over the last 2 years this has really transformed the quality and experience of airbnb rentals over VRBO. If you're only using VRBO I would suggest looking at airbnb also.

I agree, the selection has improved dramatically at airbnb. However, the thing that drives me crazy, is that most airbnb properties require payment in full at the time of booking. Our trip this coming April, was booked April 23, 2016. I'll be damned if I'm going to let anyone use my money for 11 1/2 months without any compensation.

Yeah, I personally would not be booking personal properties a year in advance on VRBO or airbnb. I'd feel I was pushing my luck on those platforms as they are really not designed for that type of thing. You're dealing with amateur entrepreneurs not multi-million dollar hotel corporations, too many things can change over a year with these people. Properties can change for the worse and for the better over time depending on the owner. Five star reviewed properties can turn into 3 star and vice versa. I try to only book from airbnb's 'super hosts', with lots of reviews, including recent ones and I want to see current pictures on their listing and about 60 days out is about as far as I feel comfortable booking a place in advance.

After having to go to plan B, C, and D because my first choice was no longer available, I was cured of waiting too long to book. If you make payment through the VRBO, or Airbnb sites, the payments are guaranteed. Even if not, I'm not going to book from an owner that I'm not certain of. Of course it's possible that I could be bamboozled, but after owning rental property for over 30 years, I have a pretty good sniffer.

Price range we would like to keep it around $125-150 perror night, two people at this time. Prefer downtown area so we can walk to places to eat, must have pool or pool access (a real pool, not a pond), kitchen so we can cook breakfast (an expensive meal to eat out), king bed (I am 6'3").

Both VRBO and Airbnb have search filters, (pool, Wi-Fi, price, location, and it seems like most of the master bedrooms have a king), that would make your search easy.

With that budget you are in good shape, that budget covers probably 95% of whats to choose from.

Well that's a deal killer. After a hard day of driving we like to chill at the pool with a beverage.

The pool at the Casa is best described as a "dipping pool" I'd say about 3 1/2' deep and about 12'x20' as another posted. However, if you like to "chill" by a pool in the afternoon after diving, the pool itself is only a place to cool off from time to time. Laying back on the pool deck watching the balloon heads head back and forth down below and the cruise ships leaving and departing can be quite enjoyable. There are lounge chairs all over the sun deck in front of the pool and a full small bar is right beside the pool. Guests are also welcome to take their beers bought at the Mega or whatever and stuff their ice bucket with them and take it to the pool deck (we do that). After 2 HRs underwater we don't need a BIG pool to swim in... just one to cool off in when laying in the sun from time to time. Anyway, sounds as though you're staying elsewhere but thought I'd put one more plug in as the place is absolutely fantastic in our opinion for divers and being in-town.
