Ok, it looks like it is being used in a cylinder backpack harness in this case.

Mounted right side up, it is a weight belt buckle. Mounted upside down, it is a waist buckle.

Nice buckle either way!

That is very interesting! That is the same design as the Scubapro buckle. Since SP came out of Healthways, it makes sense.

Yes the chromed buckle part bolted to the stainless body is cast, made in Italy

I'm upgrading a single tank rig for myself based on a Freedom Plate. The years are moving me down from double HP100's.

I have several old salty 72s, a US Divers valve, regs, but I'm lacking a really 'cool' old metal waist buckle for 2" webbing. I'll use an old ScubaPro buckle if need be, but there must be something with more history on it.

I'm looking for both the history of such buckles and the buckle itself.

Anyone?

Interesting! I have one on my 10# backplate for my twinset. I am at a total loss to explain the reinforced notch in one side of the buckle. See pics below. Anyone know/guess???
