VEO200/250 Activation ...
. When the Right/Side (Select) button is held depressed when
the Diagnostic countdown reaches 00, an External Access
request is initiated. A Serial Number screen appears
displaying the unit's Serial Number and firmware code
Revision Number as long as the button is held depressed
(Fig. 15). Upon releasing the button, the unit shuts Off.

I've tried various forms of this and have not got it to display, it just goes into normal display after doing the countdown on activation ...
what is the exact procedure?

To Activate the VEO 200/250, press and release the

Left/Front Advance Button.
.

Upon manual activation, the unit will enter Diagnostic ModE

(Fig. 14), displaying all segments of the lCD as 8' s, followed
by dashes (--I, then a countdown from 9 to O. Diagnostic
Mode checks the display and Battery voltage to
ensure that everything is within tolerance and functioning
properly.
.

Ive tried ..
pushing left button and then holding the right hand button down while countdown reaches 0
pushing left button and then pushing the right hand button down as countdown reaches 0
pushing right button down and holding it down while countdown reaches 0
and maybe a few other ways that I cant think of right now ... about 6 tries and have to wait 1.5 hours between each time and it does not enter into the Serial Number screen as stated above

AFAIK,wait untill it has shutdown, then press and hold right button

Are you just trying to find out the serial number?

I'll take the lazy way out................... does your VT3 have a small white label on it? On the backside somewhere. With a barcode and a date in MM/YY format?

My Atom 2 and PP2 both have these labels with the serial number on them.

Also, you can connect your VT3s to Oceanlog and download the data.

I do have a paper label, and I suspect that the last part is the firmware number (R05/08)
I'm just trying to register it at Oceanic .. my old 200 would work as discribed
