I just tried my new VEO 100 yesterday at a local dive shop pool. It is 15 ft deep so at lest I got a good test. Question is there seems to be a second raised bezel above the lower primary bezel. Water fills in behind this raised bezel. I guess this is a screen saver? Is make it difficult to really read the number however. I would rather not have it if not necessary. Is this a user option to remove? I do not want to damage anything. I noticed that water droplets remain for awhile behind this also.

It is a screen saver and you can just pop it right out. I'd leave it in, though, and plan on replacing it every year or so when it gets scratched up, which it will.

Yes, it is a screen protector, and is easily removable.

But doesn't ever really need to be removed, in my opinion.

It will get scratched and rubbed and a bit hard to see through when dry, or with droplets behind it. But in the water it clears up completely -- can't see any imperfections at all.

Just think what your screen would look like if you left the protector off.

Only (slight) annoyance is that it is a bit hard to read off the log information after you finish your dive -- but not a significant problem at all.
