Good luck to you! Actually, it's not-a-luck, it's-a-science! (had an Italian professor say that all of the time)

:)

Thanks for the support. Not surprised, but grateful still...

Today's blood test shows coumadin level is staying fine. I find it challenging to remember to take it in the evening, so I'm going to take it a couple of hours earlier each day until I can move it to mornings without a big change. My farm boy eating habits (six fruits and veggies is a good start) are probably the main reason I'm taking 7.5 mg a day, but as long as the level stays what the doctor ordered, then cool.

The doc said no exercise therapy yet, but wanted me to stay active, perhaps with support stockings. Gonna try to wear some. When sitting, he wants the leg up as much as possible. I kinda' suspect sitting at my kitchen online too much is involved. I like the new chairs I got a few months ago, and while cushions for the hard wood seats was suggested, I didn't bother until today. I pushed back a practice dive trip until next month and Deco training and cowboy diving indefinitely.

And things are slow at work today, so I'm taking the afternoon off in bed with the leg on a pillow. :D

Good lunch...

The thing about the support hose is that you only have to wear it on the affected leg. Makes the pair go a lot farther. They come in a pretty good range of colours, too.

Bauerfind, Jobst, and Medi are the manufacturers that come to mind at present.

Bonne chance,

Thanks - got one pair for now. Wear one all day, wash it by hand that evening, hang up for 30+ hours, put on the other one the next morning. I think I noticed the leg feeling better at the end of the first day, but I have slept a few times since then.

Picked up a Lazy-boy type chair this weekend. I'm not one to have a recliner or such in my home, but - it makes keeping the leg up while relaxing, posting, net-surfing easier.

So far, so good... :thumb:

Just want to throw my 2pennies in. I had a blood clot in my leg several years ago. Didn't do everything should be done....( part my fault part doctor part situation) I ended up with it breaking off and going into my lungs.....spent four days in icu ( after dying a couple of times in the operating room) and spent 28 days total in the hospital. ( Oh 24 hours of that was on a ventilator) So take it seriously please.

Thanks Skybird - I do realize that I was lucky that I didn't have the problems that you and some others have had. I'm trying to follow doc's orders now, albeit not my personal style...

BTW, my leg is FINALLY showing some reduction in swelling...

They told me that it would take about 3 weeks to actually see an improvement, but it's been difficult to be patient. Nice to actually see improvement, as well as feel better.

Getting older is better than not, but it's complicated. Remembering my one-a-day prophylactic is so difficult that I got six miles down the road yesterday before I remembered and had to go back home.

I decided I needed a better calendar, one I'd notice...
