NOW LET ME STATE HERE I AM A COMPUTER IDIOT

Ok I have owned and used Pinnacle and Sony Vegas Plat. I think Sony is the stronger of the two, better color correction features, more tools for fine tuning your videos.

BUT with Sony when I try to save any HD video 1080 x24fps (or higher) that are over 30minutes it starts to crash. It takes many attempts to get the show to save and 50% of the time it never does. It could be a hardware issue though I am running a Quad 4 processor, 8gigs of RAM and a terabite of storage. Whatever the problem is it is beyond me. Plus Sony's support is non-existent.

So frustrated that when I just replaced my laptop went with a MacBook Pro and just using IMovie. So far so good.

IMHO, the best software is the one you find the easiest to use.

I like and use Sony Vegas. I haven't had any problems, but I am very good on a computer.

Many people love their Macs. For me, I have no problems with PC's so no need to change. I hear IMovie is easy, but very basic and limited. If it does everything you need then stop right there. If it's too limiting for you, I think the next step up for a Mac is Final Cut Express.

I believe most of the companies offer a free trial version you can download. It's a good way to try out and see which software you like best.

Corel Video Studio Pro 3. Blue Ray, AVCHD, everything including designed for cuda video cards. Is is quite easy and also comes with the sister photo program. Staples has both programs for $79. The program is very good for me.
