And if I have a burst disk go in my first 200 cave dives, I'll just be happy to get out of there alive... ...

You have burst disks on your doubles? Ban the stroke!

Hey, the only doubles I've ever had in caves were from Chris + Danny! Its their fault!!!

What are the other 4?

off the top of my head something like:

- team diving is "dependent" diving
- helium at recreational depths
- stainless steel bolt snaps vs. brass
- bungee wings

honorable mention:

- black skirts vs. clear skirts
- under or over the long hose

What about crotch D-ring inside or outside while not scootering?
Or double bladders wing or wetsuit and steel doubles?

There really is an excessive amount of threads in the archives here and on other boards which debate this subject ad nauseum.

To be fair, I did search but didn't find the answer I was looking for. Maybe there was just too much volume to find it.

Since the discussion seemed to have regained a relatively even keel, I'll keep the thread open, but keep in mind when you post that you're very unlikely to convince anyone of anything on this topic... You definitely aren't going to change what GUE teaches.

My intent with the OP wasn't to start a debate about isolate first or not, but to extend what I learnt in fundies which was simply "try to find the problem, fix the most obvious/likely, if that doesn't work then isolate and get your team to help".

I'm certainly not trying to change what GUE teaches, I'm trying to reach a greater understanding of why and what they teach beyond fundies. I've found a lot of the posts very useful (and no one has actually said "just go do Tech 1 and find out, which is great).

Sometimes we just need to ignore the chaff in our search for the wheat. My thanks to everyone who has posted in this thread and extended my understanding of what and why.

I'll gladly take the blame for that hijack; I got some good feedback too, so it was worth it for me (and maybe other people who have/will read the thread), even if some people find it irritating to have old news rehashed

I have certainly enjoyed reading this thread and am glad it's stayed open.

yeah, i left it open because the OPs question was fine with me, it just looked like it was about to devolve into a shouting match about isolator-first vs. post-first and then it kind of regained its keel. there's also a small enough volume here that i don't want to close threads every time i get an itchy trigger finger...

i guess if it does go the way of other valve drill threads i could just edit out the deviation from the OP question to get it back on track, but that takes longer, and they don't pay me enough for this job... =)

and i haven't really seen the crotch d-ring issue spin off into a thread with hundreds of responses to it... wetsuits and steel doubles also doesn't usually spin completely out of control... double bladders is a good one though....

The top worst by far (I can't believe you left this off, although, now that I think of it, you might enjoy the argument )...
