Do not use it for pure oxygen. it is NOT oxygen comptatible, no matter what it says.

I had one on a deco cylinder. an o-ring inside burned, had to service and rebuild my O2 reg because of burnt traces inside.

OP: XS Scuba looks like best features/quality valve I can find (instead of Chinese Harrison valves that came with tanks). The PVD pro model or the VX200 pro model. Just called XS. They aren't made in China; are made in Taiwan, which is MUCH better. I've done business there a lot though in a different industry (i.e. export USA made SW to their fabs) and the quality culture is very much better, though it varies. If the USA company is on top of QC, Taiwan is fine for quality.

BTW - Not a single poster has suggested a N.AM made valve! Sermons not that useful ;-)

Harrison valves are actually excellent valves and sold and used extensively all over the world. This is a major ISO accredited manufacturer of not only Scuba valves (which is probably the smallest part of their business) but industrial valves, medical valves and pressure regulating valves.

I have seen these valves used extensively in industry where standards are far more rigorous than anywhere in the recreational scuba business.............In my opinion, country of manufacturing aside as that is a personal decision,... quality, accreditation and safety standards wise I would have no hesitation in using the valves.

If it's not leaking air, use the damn thing. Politics aside, why spend the extra money to replace a functioning unit? Are your tanks made here in the USA? How about your regs, your fins, your BC? Wetsuit? Car? Does it even actually matter to you? Something made in China is not inherently poor quality, no matter what people try to tell you.

I'm not going to get into the politics of trying to swim against the current of a global economy. Like it or not, it's here to stay. Participate or not; it's your choice.
