Kittiwake is actually on her way! Not sure about the above post (The 251-foot vessel is under tow and left Norfolk, Virginia on Thursday, 16 December), but here are some pictures of her leaving Norfolk.

The Kittiwake arrived on Christmas day and is now in Cayman waters. We are awaiting the schedule for the sinking.

She arrived on December 25 about 2:00 p.m. as planned. There is a great arial view on the Kittiwake FB site as well as several pictures on (Grand Cayman) Dns Diving FB site. She has been moved south, as we curretly have some winds to deal with in Cayman, but as soon as things settle down weather wise I am sure they will tow her back West for the sinking. I saw it being towed round South Sound yesterday so it's currently off Spotts or Prospect till this front passes.

They are bringing Kittiwake around to the sinking site and it is passing
Sand Key now and should be going past Sunset House in a half hour or so!

Exciting news to report: Jan 4 - Tuesday, New target for the sinking date of the Kittiwake. the ship will leave Port Dec 31 and go to sinking site. Good progress is being made on the preparations! (Please note this date is subject to change due to weather or other unexpected delays.)

Kittiwake Sinking Schedule:

Monday, January 3, 2011 Guided Tour of the Kittiwake for Government dignitaries, Sponsors and media, followed by a brief dedication ceremony and unveiling of a commemorative plaque
1:00pm-2:00pm

Tenders will depart from West Bay dock for the general public to circle the perimeter of the Kittiwake, operating every 30 minutes 2:00pm-4:00pm

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 The Sinking Event, West Bay Public Beach
10:00am until...* Contact CITA Watersports operators to reserve your space on a vessel. The perimeter of the sinking will be policed by DOE and the Marine Police Unit. All boats will be required to stay beyond the set back markers.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011 Cocktail reception/silent auction/presentations, Margaritaville (Drink specials, cash bar - all are welcome to attend and see exclusive footage, meet the Crew & bid on artifacts from the vessel!)
6:00pm - 8:00pm
