An interesting advertisement from the historical point of view:

Unexpectedly, as a correction to what has been said previously, it seems that the nose clip in diving had a period of popularity also in the USA in the 50s and 60s.
 
The link to the interesting video of Hans Hass clearing the mask from water [wearing nose clip], seems to be broken [which is very strange as the video is still accessible] ...
