My sources include you, other posters, the US news, the American Ambassador, the state department, British news, Honduran news, Roatan news, two former employees, two resort owners, as well as former friends on Utila and Cayos Cachinos. None of my island sources indicate any kind of problems at this time.

I never said I was on the island during this period. Yes you are correct that I've had previous problems on the island. That experience with unrest and corruption in the police department is part of what I'm saying. There are things happending in the government that could spur police into further unwarranted actions. Sometimes people take advantage of situations. It's really pretty simple. I'm was only using my previous personal experience to make a personal judgement. When I say personally, that's exactly what I mean. I'm not trying to hide anything or give anyone any impression other than what I think. What I think may be totally crap but it's still what I think. What you thnk is certainly your personal opinion. Your observations about the current situation on the island are your personal observations. Your opinion may be correct and I certainly hope it is. Giving opinions is what I personally thought this board was about but maybe I'm wrong about that too. As far as I can tell, there is no requirement that one live on Roatan to give opinions.

Like many other posters, this thread has been beat to death and I think I'll move on to giving my PERSONAL OPINION to other discussions when I have something to contribute.

List ALL the facts for us once again, PLEASE, so we are all on the same page once again.

What is your personal interest in this? Maybe you have posted your answer somewhere but I haven't seen it. Have you been to Roatan? Are you interested in going? Aside from posting 2nd hand information, what do you know to be true about the reality in Roatan right now? I am just curious as to why this seems to be such a passion for you. Don't flame me please, I am just curious as to why (living in New Jersey) you seem to be so intense when it comes to this subject.

Second hand information that seems to support the dictator-to-be that was kicked out and also seems to be of the most negative view of the situation.

Fair enough.

I have been to Roatan in 2007 and I have seen first hand the conditions of abject poverty that many Hondurans live in.

I have a trip to Honduras planned for 2010 and thus I am interested in monitoring the situation closely as I may need to modify my plans depending on how it unfolds.

Regarding the situation in Roatan, I couldn't say. I am simply following the developments of the political situation in Honduras as a whole through a variety of sources for personal interest.

Yesterday I gained a fan on this board, now I have an alter ego as well. :hm:

I think Roatan is safer than this thread.

I talked to a lot of people and not one wanted Zelaya back. Yes, it was a biased, unscientific survey (everyone had a yob and didn't seem the socialist type), but it would appear that the supporters are on the mainland, not on Roatan.

I too am following the situation as I have a trip planned for the week following Christmas. I on the other hand have not been there. I am following this on this board because I want real information. Not the material that comes from some writer in NY or CA that isn't there and has no idea what is actually happening there. I am looking for information from both sides as I know the media in the US spins their story and the resorts will spin theirs. I am trying to get information from people that have "boots on the ground" and can tell me what it is like. For me information from the US media and resort owners in Honduras is not totally discredited just looked at with a shade of suspicion. Real people with real experiences there is what I am looking for. I do not trust our government much as they have been known to put their spin on things. And no, that remark does not just cover the current administration, I am not pleased with the goings on since the Reagan administration so don't blast me about that. I want the real news not some politically spun to make it look the way they want bull*****.

I will now quiet down and look for what I can determine to be the truth and actual information from the area.
