Thanks runsongas... Any opinion as to the quality, or the technical level (beginner, mid-range, advanced)? Will LDS service this model for me?

simple and reliable, but not very high performance. likely still serviceable at an aqualung dealer, but check on the 2nd stage.

As to the performance, it depends on which stage you are talking about. The first is a Conshelf, is one of the best first stages ever made...and still used by the military. Before being sold another reg, consider replacing the primary second stage and using the one shown as your octo.

As supporting evidence (that Herman doesn't need), our local FD's search and rescue team uses the conshelf first on their backup tanks. As a sometimes conshelf user myself, it was neat to see.

The first as a sticker on it that reads "US Divers Select". Did US Divers really pretty much stick with the Conshelf design, just apply new model stickers? Thanks for your info!

Pretty much yes. The basic design was/is used for almost every diaphragm reg USD/AL made. The first generation Titan is nothing more than a Conshelf with a slightly different looking body....uses the same service kit.
